Juicing for health


I have lost count of the number of days juicing, maybe 50. I am still juicing morning and dinner. And I have a really healthy, primarily vegetable , lunch. My lunch was a warm potato salad with  tomato, green bean, red onion. Today I made a cucumber, kale, lemon, apple and carrot juice.A simple juice but really cuts the appetite for snacks at night. My go to snack is almonds, walnuts and raisins. This is my trail mix. 

During the juicing diet, I have learned to really examen food. Meaning, If I have to go out with my family. I have learned to order either vegetarian dishes, soups, vegetable sides  etc. I omit high calorie parts of the meal, such as more veggies for rice or bread.  These things have always been on the menu. I just never saw them for. I do not make a habit of eating out but if I do, I make good choices. 

I admit the journey is a tough one. I have hard times keeping on the juicing diet especially when my life gets hectic. But I keep the faith and start again. The benefits are too great. And I believe I was hurting myself eating the other way.

Today is day 40 of Juicing. I made a celery, lettuces, ginger, parley, cucumber. Right now it is my go to for Juice. I can make it pretty quickly if I am having a hectic day. I omitted the lemon today but I like to add the lemon be/ it is healthy and brings the flavors together. I am still having a lunch everyday. I try to keep it to a salad and lean protein. It is a rocky road to juicing. I would like to say it is smooth sailing but it is not. But I can say the benefits out weigh the tough times. Viva la Juice.

Today I made a simple juice: Celery, Kale, Apple, Pear and a big nub of ginger. I wanted a sweeter juice today. I took a blood test yesterday to check my cholesterol etc. After 35 days of juicing, I have lowered all levels  to normal or below. Yes ! The loss of more than 15 pounds is great. But juicing has really improved my health because it is raw food for the body. 

Health Book Info: Green juices clean body of pollutants (kale, wheat grass etc), Veggie juices are restores and builders & Fruit juices cleanse body of pollutants and nourish with important nutrients. 

This is an ageless cocktail :  4 to 5 Carrots, 1 small bunch parsley,1  hand full of spinach, 1 handful of  kale, 1 beet, 1 garlic & 1/4 head of cabbage.

Today I made a Kale, Celery, Ginger, Pear, Lemon & Kyo-Green . This is was a great juice and tasted really good. These last 2 days I have wanted to have some sweets but I have really kept to my juicing. I really have not had sugar for a month and a week. Not eating sugar is a side benefit of this juicing journey and I like that benefit. I am going to keep to the regimen because I feel like my body is doing better.My skin is really clear. My one vice as been coffee.  I have had some coffee in the morning  minus the cream and sugar. I lived without it  for a month. I know I need to not drink it.

Day 34 of Juicing. Made a special trip to farmers’ market. Made a simple Spinach, Carrot, Kale, Apple & Celery. I made a drink with a Kale, so bitter I  could barely drink the juice. I do not know what variety of Kale it was  but I  prefer Dinosaur or Curly Kale.

Today is day 30 of juicing. I made a romaine, carrots, ginger, red pepper, 1 orange, 2 lemons & cucumber. A really nice flavor and excellent dinner on day 30. My hope is to make this my new way to eat. I have no complaints about this new regimen. I feel great and look so much better. My body functions better on juicing and less food. I feel great about dropping the weight. To lose 15 pounds is amazing to me.

Today is day 28 of juicing. I started 4 weeks ago this Sunday. I woke up in an amazing spirit with humor. I think sleeping without all the food in my body allows my internal body to really rest. I rest too. I was told this by a good friend that energy goes to your internal organs at night. And I woke up feeling rested this morning.  Todays Juice: Cucumber, Lemon, Kale, Cilantro, Ginger, Apple & Celery & teaspoon of Kyo-Green.  My super Green Drink.

As I said, I am not a purist: I am  celebrating  with 1 glass of wine ( 4 oz) & 100 calories max. Before I started this journey, i liked to drink Rhone wines. I am drinking a California Rhone called Morgan.

Today is day 24 of Juicing. I am really craving some food especially at night. I want to have dinner but I know that would destroy all the work I have put into juicing. I plan to finish this week. Then I will assess how much longer I will go. I have lost over 10 pounds. I can feel it my clothing, my stomach. I honestly look better and feel better. 

Most interesting, I think my body handles stress better, meaning I handle it better. Because I do not have all that food inside me. My body and mind function better in those situations.  

Today’s Juice: Celery, spinach, apple, kiwi, bean spouts, carrots. Yum.

Made an awesome juice for dinner. Spinach, celery, cilantro(great aroma), lemon, bean spouts(protein), persian cucumber, apple & a big piece of ginger. It is a mean green juice but really good for me. Bean Sprouts are new and I think it is a great idea. My wife brought them home. I was surprised I did use them earlier. 

Juicing for better health


I am starting my 4th week of juicing. Yes i am not dong a complete juice fast. I have one meal of day:lunch. I try not eat bread or rice. Just veggies and good protein. It is usually under 500 calories.  I used to drink coffee daily and multiple cups. I drink a cup a week now. I find drinking the juice is like having a cup of coffee. I did not believe I would get to week four. 

I have learned so much from this experience. I am so conscious of the food I eat. For instance, Is this food a good choice in terms of health and calories. Before I would eat what ever was in front of me. Now I can question the meal. What I can I take off the plate and what I can substitute that is more healthy. 

The best thing my stomach is smaller and feel good about that. I did not realize I was over feeding myself .
